Springbok lock Deysel to arrive this week as Munster boosted by return of Irish trio

MUNSTER’S SHORT-TERM signing, Jean Deysel, is expected to arrive in Limerick this Wednesday as the province prepare to resume their Guinness Pro12 campaign against Zebre.

The South African lock will link up with Munster on a three-month deal as injury cover for Dave Foley and compatriot Jean Kleyn, who are both sidelined for the rest of the season.

Deysel, capped seven times by the Springboks, is unlikely to be available for Saturday’s trip to Italy but could come into contention for the Champions Cup quarter-final against Toulouse on 1 April.

Munster will be boosted by the return of Andrew Conway, John Ryan and Niall Scannell for this weekend after the trio reported for duty this morning following the conclusion of the Six Nations.

Conway made his Ireland debut during Saturday’s win over England while Peter O’Mahony, who was man of the match at the Aviva Stadium, is also expected to train later in the week.

Simon Zebo, Donnacha Ryan, CJ Stander, Conor Murray and Keith Earls have all been given the week off ahead of the clash with Toulouse on Saturday week.

Earls picked up a shin injury at the weekend while Murray is nursing a shoulder knock which kept him out of Ireland’s final game of the championship.

Meanwhile, Tyler Bleyendaal is likely to feature against Zebre after missing the last outing against Cardiff through injury while James Cronin (finger) and Alex Wootton (shoulder) are nearing their return.

Francis Saili (knee), Mike Sherry (back) and Ian Keatley (knee) remain on the injured list alongside long-term absentees Foley (wrist) and Kleyn (neck).

After a three-week break, Munster head into the final stretch of the season having lost just once in their last 10 games. They sit third in the Pro12 with five league games remaining before the playoffs.
