AS DEFENCES BECOME more prominent in rugby and flair is sacrificed for efficiency, it is great to know that every so often a front row will still attempt an ill-advised drop goal.
Bath beat Sale last night and at one stage when the Sharks had a penalty advantage, prop Vadim Cobilas tried a snapshot drop goal.

Or maybe he was attempting a cheeky grubber kick, who knows.

That isn’t even the first time Cobilas has panicked in an attacking situation. Earlier in the season he made a lovely break against Saracens before promptly remembering he is a tighthead prop and firing a no-look pass over his shoulder.
Maybe Cobilas should take some pointers from Adam Jones.

Or Matt Dunning, who seemed to get a bit of stick for actually nailing his drop goal during a Super Rugby match.
