Lemont FBLA Sending Nine Students To National Competition In Atlanta

LEMONT, IL — Nine students from Lemont High School are headed to the Future Business Leaders of America national competition in Atlanta from June 27-30.

Lemont High School teacher and FBLA sponsor John Aspel told Patch that 10 students earned a berth to nationals by placing within the top four at the state leadership conference last month in Springfield. Nine of the 10 students are able to make it to the national competition.

Aspel said the national competition will include representation from all 50 states and a few other countries. Students will compete in over 75 categories.

“LHS, over the years, has been fortunate to send twenty students to the national competition, which is held in a different part of the country each year,” Aspel told Patch. “We have had several students place in the top 10 over the years.”

The FBLA chapter is raising funds to help with students’ travel expenses, like hotel, airfare and registration. The chapter has a goal of $15,000, and so far $2,700 has been raised.
