LACEY, NJ — When Jimmy Tomredle found out that some students at his school weren’t attending because they didn’t want to get bullied for wearing dirty clothes, he knew he had to step in.
Senior class president at Lacey Township High School and part of the Leadership Academy of Humanities Program, Tomredle has spent the majority of the school year working to bring free laundry services to all students and staff.
He found out in September that kids weren’t going to school because of their dirty clothes, and in October, work began on Tomredle’s Terrifically Tidy Laundry Services.

To have free laundry services, he needed a washer and dryer. Tomredle tried unsuccessfully to get donations from Home Depot, Lowe’s and P.C. Richard’s and Sons. But it was a local business that came through.
Anchor Appliance in West Creek supplied Tomredle with a washer and dryer, and the school’s custodians installed it. Now, the laundry room was ready for use.

Tomredle’s Terrifically Tidy Laundry Services had its grand opening on May 25. It was attended by about 60 people, including the superintendent, teachers and Tomredle’s friends and family.
He expects the service to grow, and has so far been purchasing supplies with his own money and donations. Anyone that would like to donate any laundry detergent products can drop the products off at the Lacey Township High School.
