Devon's New Business Focuses On Nails, Hair, Makeup And Connection

MILFORD, CT – When customers go to Soul to Sole Nail Care, they not only experience excellent customer service, but business owners Michelle Davignon and Laura Cabral make it a point to connect with the person.

“Michelle and I are both reiki practitioners,” Cabral said. “When we have our clients, it’s not just a beautifying session; it’s also a spiritual connection we make with them.”

“It’s a safe place for all people to come. It’s a clean, serene environment. It’s one on one,” Davignon said. “The Soul to Sole concentrates on the entire person instead of just the service.”

Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Soul to Sole Nail Care on Thursday, June 15, at 162 Bridgeport Ave.

“We are nowhere near done getting our location ready,” Davignon said. “But we have had great momentum while we have been open.”

Davignon said they are holding an official grand opening on July 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with gift bags, vendors for permanent jewelry, local artists, drinks, nibbles and specials.

Before merging their businesses, Cabral and Davignon had their own business in Milford, but when they chose to merge, they decided the Village of Devon in Milford was the right place for them.

“We loved that this is such a building community,” Davignon said. “Devon is having a resurgence, and we both loved being part of that. It has fabulous energy.”

When Davignon found the business location, she knew she wanted to move into the space but didn’t want to move in alone.

“When I found this place, it was love at first sight,” Davignon said. “But I asked Laura to be my business partner because she had the same dream as me, only she does hair and makeup, and I focus on nails.”

The dream they were both striving for was to give people a taste of the old-school style salon experience where people can go and get what they need while having a personal and attentive experience.

“If they come and want wine or want a mimosa or just want to sit quietly, whatever they want, our attention to excellence is for our customers,” Davignon said.

To deliver a personal and attentive experience, Cabral and Davignon only work on one client at a time and ask clients to book beforehand.

“Appointments are highly suggested,” Cabral said.

When new customers go to Soul to Sole Nail Salon, Cabral said they get surprised by how they do things.

“It’s not your standard salon feel, but they become lifelong clients,” she said. “They like the experience, the attention, and like to talk with their stylist. Our clients are like our family.”

Davignon said many of the new clients they get are from referrals.

“Our clients also like that we are also the only pedicure in town who does waterless pedicures,” she said. “We do a hot steam pedicure, so we never put people in the water.”

Besides being a waterless pedicure location, the duo takes salon sterilization seriously and have a working autoclave on the premise and use an ultrasonic sanitizer for all tools that are not disposable.

“We also use very healthy products,” Davignon.

Davignon said that after they work on clients, one of their favorite things about their job is to see people walk out the door happy with the service they received.

“We also like connecting with clients and building relationships and working with them on their goals,” Cabral said.
