At least 11 sets of remains were found along Ocean Parkway over a decade-long period, but according to police, the arrest is tied specifically to the so-called “Gilgo Four,” four women found wrapped in burlap in 2010.
Heuermann, who lived in Massapequa Park, renovated the fourth floor of the Empire State Building in 1997, according to Buildings department records.

Those records show that the $400,000 job mainly involved constructing interior partitions, hanging a new ceiling and rearranging an HVAC air intake.
At the time, Heuermann worked for SCR Design, possibly a predecessor to his eponymous firm, as another partner listed on many later job applications is also named in the Empire State Building documents.
The job was signed off by longtime Empire State Building manager Stephen Tole, who once told the New York Times that he uses the desk of his long-ago predecessor, Smith, who managed the iconic building after losing the presidential race in 1928, according to the paper.
