LONG BEACH, CA — A 63-year-old man died after he was ejected from his car during a head-on collision with a parked car Friday morning, law enforcement said.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to a traffic collision at about 10:11 a.m. Friday morning in the area of 6th Street and Santiago Avenue. When officers arrived, the man’s Nissan Rogue rolled into the front yard of a nearby home.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to detectives, the man was driving on the wrong side of the road when he struck a parked vehicle head-on. No other passengers were in the car and no injuries were reported.
Investigators said they believe that the speed the man was driving was a factor in the crash. It is unknown if driving under the influence or distracted driving played a role in the collision, authorities said.

The driver’s identity was with help pending notification of his next of kin, LBPD said.
