MENIFEE, CA — An investigation Monday into a potential shooting on the campus of Menifee’s Ethan A. Chase Middle School led to an underage former student whose threat was not credible, police said.
At approximately 9 a.m. Monday, the Menifee Police Department was notified about “a concerning social media post” that indicated a possible shooting on the campus located at 28100 Calm Horizon Drive.
In response, the school immediately initiated a shelter-in-place. As police and school staff worked to ensure the campus was safe, an investigation began into the source of the threat.

Due to his age, the juvenile’s identity was not released.
“The Menifee Police Department would like to remind the public that threats in our community will not be tolerated,” the agency said. “We encourage parents to have conversations with their children about the severity of these types of threats and the importance of being responsible when using social media.”
