Metro Atlanta Nears Record-High Temps As Showers Approach

METRO ATLANTA — After a few days of unusually nearing record-high temperatures, metro Atlanta is looking at a three-day stretch of rain through the weekend, forecasters told Patch.

Thursday is expected to be abnormally warm with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s throughout the metro, said Ryan Willis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Peachtree City office.

He added the warm temperatures heating up the metro this week are not typical for this time of the year.

While Thursday will be dry, rain chances start Friday and will last through Sunday, Willis said. A front from the northwest will push through the metro Friday and stall in the south.

Willis did not predict when the raindrops could begin falling, but the weather service in its detailed forecast said the showers could start after 4 a.m. Friday.
