“While there is still no indication that any court data has been compromised, we appreciate the patience and cooperation of the public, media and legal professionals as we work to bring the entire website back online,” Pennsylvania Chief Justice Debra Todd said in a statement. “We reiterate that, amid this event, the courts have remained open and accessible.”

“Urgent work is underway to restore these web services and our court information technology and executive team continues to work closely with the FBI and Homeland Security to analyze and investigate the cyber attack,” Todd added.

The “denial of service” attack over the weekend involved the website being over loaded with traffic until it cannot respond or crashes, preventing access for regular users.

The motivation for the attack remains unclear, as do the perpetrators.
