INDIO, CA — Spring is here, and there are new faces to see at the 76th annual Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival. Five baby farm animals — twin lambs and triplet goats –have been born since arriving at the fairgrounds, according to a fair spokesperson.
County fairs are often a way of educating the general public about farm animals, and that can include educating about new births. Centennial Farm at the OC Fair frequently has live animal births. In 2023, the LA County Fair’s Cal Poly Pomona agriculture students presented their livestock, 50 poised to give birth during the fair. It’s all in the name of showcasing livestock and animals in a way that educates and brings joy to the crowd, according to a fair spokesperson.
On Wednesday, a sheep named “Mama Blondy” gave birth to two baby lambs at the petting corral.

You’ll also find the 4H kids who have raised farm animals of their own, and are on hand to talk about them at the Riverside County Fair.
When you go, don’t hesitate to ask questions and learn about the 4-H and FFA animal entries.
