SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus Police, all of last week’s arrests:

On Feb. 12 at 1:30 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Wayne Police Department to take into custody a 41-year-old male, Roggs Espiritu of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ with no bail along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $2,000 with a 10% option. Mr. Espiritu was transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Feb. 12 at 6:40 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Essex County Jail to take into custody a 34-year-old male, Ephraim Eli of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $2,500 along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $2,000 with a 10% option. Mr. Eli was unable to post bail for the involved warrants and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Feb. 12 at 4:59 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the Plaza Center CVS parking lot on a report of an individual in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle who was possibly intoxicated. During the investigation, the police arrested a 52-year-old male, Maheshkum Patel of Jersey City, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Patel was issued his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional 3 motor vehicle summonses and was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On Feb. 13 at 12:13 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 50-year-old male, Santos Ortiz of Jersey City, NJ for Possession of CDS believed to be Heroin [2C:35-10A(1)]. Mr. Ortiz was issued his complaint summons along with 1 motor vehicle summons and he was released from police custody.

On Feb. 14 at 11:49 AM, Secaucus Police responded to the Meadowlands Exposition Center located at 355 Plaza Drive on a report of an infant child who was left unattended. During the investigation, the police arrested a 22-year-old female of Brooklyn, NY for Endangering the Welfare of a Child [2C:24-4A(2)]. The involved female was issued her complaint summons and was released from police custody. Police Chief Dennis Miller told Hudson County View the mother left her baby, under a year old, in her stroller at the expo center entrance for “over 20 minutes” while the mother was inside.

On Feb. 14 at 11:57 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 30-year-old male, Eddy Almonte of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ with no bail, 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $1,000 along with 2 outstanding warrants issued out of Secaucus, NJ in the amount of $300. Mr. Almonte was released on his own recognizance in relation to the 2 outstanding warrants issued out of Secaucus, NJ. Officers from the Jersey City Police Department responded to Secaucus Police Headquarters to take custody of Mr. Almonte. Mr. Almonte was issued 1 motor vehicle summons and he was released into the custody of the Jersey City Police Department.

On Feb. 14 Secaucus Police responded to the intersection of County Avenue and Secaucus Road on a report of a motor vehicle crash. The one vehicle involved in the crash had subsequently fled the scene following the crash. An investigation was conducted and on 02/15/2024 at 2:20 PM, the police arrested a 22-year-old male, Mohamed Mohamed-Akram of College Point, NY for Tampering with Public Records [2C:28-7A(1)] and Forgery [2C:21-1A(1)] for altering the license plate on the motor vehicle. Mr. Mohamed-Akram was taken into custody at Secaucus Police Headquarters located at 1203 Paterson Plank Road. Mr. Mohamed-Akram was issued his complaint summons along with 4 motor vehicle summonses and he was released from police custody.

On Feb. 15 at 7:42 PM, Secaucus Police responded to the 700 block of First Street to take into custody a 53-year-old male, Robert Kanaby of Secaucus, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Little Falls, NJ with no bail. Officers from the Little Falls Police Department responded to Secaucus Police Headquarters and took custody of Mr. Kanaby for transport back to their authority.

On Feb. 16 at 9:28 AM, Secaucus Police observed a parked motor vehicle in the parking lot of the Extended Stay America located at 1 Meadowlands Parkway in which the owner of the motor vehicle was found to have 1 outstanding warrant. The police subsequently arrested a 30-year-old male, Antonio Magny of Linden, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Metuchen, NJ in the amount of $1,500.00. The Metuchen Police Department responded to Secaucus Police Headquarters and took custody of Mr. Magny for transport back to their authority.

On Feb. 16 at 10:58 AM, the Secaucus Police were advised of a scam in which the involved party was requesting money. During the investigation, the police arrested a 44-year-old male, Tsering Dhondup of Elmhurst, NY for Criminal Attempt to commit Theft by Deception [2C:5 1A(1)] and Conspiracy to commit Theft by Deception [2C:5-2A(1)]. Mr. Dhondup was taken into custody in the area of 281 Centre Avenue. Mr. Dhondup was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On Feb. 17 at 1:05 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 26-year-old male, Ocaris Duran of Garfield, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Mount Arlington, NJ in the amount of $1,000.00. Mr. Duran was able to post bail for the involved warrant, was issued 4 motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
