Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have submitted a provisional contract offer to German international and PSG central midfielder Julian Draxler, according to our colleagues at Foot Mercato.

Hertha, who have become newly cash rich following the acquisition of 49.9% of the club by Lars Windhorst, had already made an initial approach for Draxler in January, which was then quickly rebuffed, with the ex-Wolfsburg man keen to remain in the French capital for as long as possible.

Hertha’s ambitions for the 2020/21 campaign are to qualify for the Champions’ League and Draxler is on the top of their summer shortlist.

Conversations have already taken place between Draxler’s entourage and Hertha, with the German side even submitting a first provisional contract offer.

However, the German’s salary requirements will be difficult to meet for Hertha. The outlet in question claims that Arsenal and another unnamed English side are tracking the player closely.

Out of contract in June 2021 with PSG and with the club having no intention of extending, Draxler will have to choose between another 12 months of comfort in Paris or fighting for a place at EURO 2021 by leaping into another adventure, be it in Berlin or in England…
