The LFP, French professional football’s governing body, have this afternoon announced that all scheduled games between now and the 15th April in France’s top two divisions will be played behind closed doors owing to the spread of COVID-19.
This announcement comes a day after the French Minister for Sports, Roxana Mărăcineanu, decreed that all Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches would either have to be restricted to 1,000 supporters in attendance or be forced to be played behind closed doors.
As of yesterday, some teams including Brest were attempting to get their fixtures to be postponed until after the abovementioned date, so that their fans could attend vital games coming up that will define some sides’ seasons.
