Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone following PSG’s 5-1 defeat to Lille, Italian international and club central midfielder Marco Verratti sought to give an explanation.
“It can happen in a season of matches where you can have a completely crazy series of events and that happened tonight. I do not think that we lacked character, we could have been at 2-1 with the Kehrer header and 5 minutes after, we concede for 2-1. Aside from that, to attack with 10 men is not easy. Lille have a very good team, they play well on the counter. We could have been more intelligent, lost the match but not at this score. I do not think that we have had a change in attitude. In the league, we have done an incredible job. We play every match to win it. We came here to win and become champions. This can happen, against a team who is putting together a very good campaign. We had some very good things in the 1st half. Aside from that, with the injuries and the red card, it was a bit more difficult.”
