Belgian international and Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has emerged as PSG manager Unai Emery’s January transfer window priority, according to L’Équipe.
The former Marseille man is not receiving enough playing time at Chelsea and Director of Football Patrick Kluivert made an approach to the Premier League leaders at the beginning of the week, one that CFC turned down, as they had turned down West Ham United ten days earlier.
Manager Antonio Conte views Batshuayi as the future of Chelsea, and the club does not want him to leave. PSG and Chelsea’s talks were so brief that they did not even discuss whether this would be a loan deal or permanent transfer.
However, PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi is determined to get Spanish technician Emery the player that he wants, and therefore talks in recent hours have restarted between Les Parisiens and Chelsea for a deal.
Even if PSG could convince Chelsea to sell the player, it is highly unlikely that Michy Batshuayi would want to join Les Parisiens, considering his love for rivals Marseille and the fact that he would merely be going from one substitutes bench to another, from behind Diego Costa to behind Edinson Cavani.
A deal appears impossible at the time of writing, but then again, when Al Khelaifi wants something, he generally gets it.
