Karim Benzema has lost, for procedural reasons, the trial against newspaper Le Monde, whom he accused of having published the minutes of a court hearing in the blackmail case against the sextape Mathieu Valbuena.
On December 2nd, when the Real Madrid striker was to speak that evening on TF1 in what was his first media appearance about the situation, Le Monde published the contents of his hearing before the judge that indicted him for attempted blackmail of complicity and participation in a criminal association.
Benzema brought this case to the 17th Civil Chamber of the High Court of Paris.
But as the player failed to inform the prosecution of this procedure as required by law, Benzema’s suit was declared invalid by the court, in a ruling last Wednesday. His lawyers have also filed a complaint for violation of the confidentiality of investigations.
