According to a report in today’s edition of L’Équipe, PSG striker Edinson Cavani “wants more than ever” to leave the club at the end of the season.
The Uruguayan was extremely disappointed not to play a bigger part in PSG’s victory this week against Chelsea in the Champions’s League and he currently fails to see a path forward for him with Les Parisiens, no matter how Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract situation evolves.
In summer, Cavani will still have two years remaining on his contract and while he might want to leave, there is no guaranteeing that Nasser Al Khelaifi will let him leave.
Blanc had the following to say on the player during yesterday’s pre-match press conference:
“He is a player who, mentally, has enjoyed better periods but he is a fighter and he will do everything to change all that. The end of the season looks like it could be very interesting for every player, even if we will continue to play the best performing individuals.”
Cavani spoke at Stamford Bridge following PSG’s qualification in midweek:
“It is difficult for any player to be on the bench, even more difficult when you are used to always playing. It is not easy to stay and wait to be given your chance, but those are the decisions of the manager. There is nothing one can do. What is important is to never let your head drop. It is football, it is life. You have to continue to work to show yourself to be present when you are needed. With Laurent Blanc, I have a professional relationship.”
