L’Équipe are reporting that Bayern Munich are considering recalling Alexander Nübel (26) from his loan spell at AS Monaco, following a season-ending injury to Manuel Neuer (36).

Neuer suffered a leg break that required surgery after a skiing accident. That leaves number two, Sven Ulreich, as the first-choice goalkeeper at the Bavarian club. Whilst the Bundesliga side are interested in Dinamo Zagreb’s Dominik Livakovic, who is currently impressing with Croatia in the World Cup, their priority is to recall Nübel.
The German goalkeeper is 18 months into a two-year loan at the Principality club. Nübel recently told Get French Football News in an exclusive interview that it was “possible” that he would remain at Monaco beyond his loan spell. However, the injury to Neuer may have changed the equation.
Monaco aren’t obliged to release Nübel, and Bayern Munich would have to compensate the Ligue 1 club in order to bring him back to the Allianz Arena. Should he leave, Monaco would look to recruit a replacement with Thomas Didillon, on loan from satellite club Cercle Brugge, the only other option.
