Ligue 1 21/22, Round 31 – 9/4/22
CLERMONT – 1 (Dossou 42)
Arthur Desmas, 3 – He made two good saves from Neymar in each half and another late on from Mbappé but hardly covered himself in glory, conceding six times. His distribution was woeful at times too.
Arial Mendy, 3
Alidu Seidu, 4
Jean-Claude Billong, 3
Akim Zedadka, 3
Johan Gastien, 5 – Although he was no match for Verratti, his passing was confident and progressive when given the chance, even if he lacked the quality around him to keep the ball for long.
Yohann Magnin, 3
Jason Berthomier, 4
Saîf-Eddine Khaoui, 5
Jodel Dossou, 5
Mohamed Bayo, 3
Others: Allevinah 4, Kyei 4, Da Cunha 4, Busquests 5, Oiger 5.
PSG – 6 (Neymar 6, 71, 83, Mbappé 19, 74, 80)
Gianluigi Donnarumma, 5
Achraf Hakimi, 5
Presnel Kimpembe, 5
Sergio Ramos, 5
Nuno Mendes, 4
Marco Verratti, 7
Idrissa Gana Gueye, 5
Danilo Pereira, 6
Kylian Mbappé, 9 – Secured a hattrick via three typically exacting finishes and he was in involved everything PSG did well in an attacking sense without really having to exert himself. Unsurprisingly, the world’s best player was far too good for an open Clermont side.
Neymar, 8 – Despite bagging a neat hattrick, he flittered a little in and out of the game at times and not everything came off for him. However, this was a more focused Neymar display overall and it was his stunning looped ball that put Mbappé in for 4-1.
Lionel Messi, 8 – Contributed with three assists and some delightful passing in all areas besides. His lovely first-time ball assisted the opener for Neymar before the game’s highlight as his chest and volleyed through ball set up Mbappé for 2-0.
Others: Ebimbe 5, Bernat 5, Michut 5, Kehrer 5, Wijnaldum 5.
