Former Indian footballer Parimal Dey passed away due to illness at the age of 81, as per Sportstar.
Dey represented India in five games. His goal in the bronze medal play-off against Korea helped India finish 3rd in the 1966 Merdeka Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Dey played for East Bengal at the club level and scored 84 goals. He won the Calcutta Football League and IFA Shield double in 1966, 1970 and 1973.
Dey’s goal vs Iran’s PAS in the 1970 IFA Shield remains the fastest goal scored by a player after coming on as a substitute in the tournament. He also won the Durand Cup twice and Rovers Cup on 3 occasions.

Dey guided Bengal to 2 Santosh Trophy titles in 1962 and 1968. In 1971, he won the Rovers Cup with Mohun Bagan.
“Parimal Dey’s demise comes as a big loss for Indian Football. Jangla-da, as he was known to us, was one of the best schemers of the 1960s, and remains in the hearts and minds of the fans till date. My thoughts go out to his family,” said AIFF President Mr Kalyan Chaubey.
