New Beaumont Pointe Project Up For Discussion By Planning Commission

BEAUMONT, CA — The Beaumont Planning Commission scheduled an open meeting Wednesday night to discuss the new Beaumont Pointe Project proposal. Residents can attend the 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall or watch live on the city of Beaumont Livestream.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the planning commission would detail the proposed Beaumont Pointe Project agenda packet, including nine applications. It is focused on a 541-acre property in the unincorporated area of Riverside County within Beaumont’s sphere of influence, according to the 1,000-page Planning Commission agenda.

According to Carole Kendrick, Planning Manager’s statement, the commission is conducting the hearing to review and break down several applications submitted to the city over the past four years.

The project would bring over 232 acres of industrial and manufacturing space to the Beaumont area, including 30 acres of commercial businesses and a 125-room hotel. Alongside that development comes over 275 acres of open space and another 150 acres of open space conservation, according to the project plans. The special meeting’s vast agenda details the area’s location and a description of the proposed use.

“The Specific Plan also establishes the 30.2-acre General Commercial designated area in Planning Areas 1 and 2, named ‘The Experience at Beaumont Pointe,'” according to the report. “This area is envisioned as a premier, state-of-the-art recreation, restaurant, and hospitality destination within the City of Beaumont.”

Still, before any recommendations are given to the Beaumont City Council by the Planning Commission, much remains to discuss.

Already, residents were taking to Facebook to share their initial thoughts on the enormous project.

“We don’t need anymore warehouses out here!” one commenter wrote. “None of us that live here want this to be another Ontario. We live here to be away from that.”

Another commenter urged those with complaints to attend the meeting or share “your voice” comments for the Wednesday meeting.

“I encourage everyone to click the link that 1. Tells you how to submit ‘your voice’ via email for tonight, and 2. Scroll further down to see just how much they’re wanting to destroy the vacant hills for more industrial garbage by agreeing to rezone that area to industrial.”

If the project is approved, traffic improvements will also be implemented at Fourth Street, Jack Rabbit Trail, Entertainment Way, and Industrial Way, as well as fire access roads, which were a complication to the proposal in 2021.

This was a scheduled, live-streamed event, and residents were invited to join in person to hear more about the project.
