Speaking in an interview with RMC, Ligue 1 side Reims’ president Jean-Pierre Caillot denied any approach from Marseille for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, the Senegalese, who actually previously belonged to OM, has 11 clean sheets in the French top flight to his name so far this season.
Caillot had the following to say:
“He will leave us one day, but our ambition is, and we discussed this during the contract extension (Mendy recently signed a new deal until 2022), that he is with us next season. I read that there were contacts with Zubizarreta (OM Sporting Director). To be completely transparent and honest, there has never been any contact. This rumour is without basis, like sometimes a lot of rumours circulating about transfers are.”
