ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Romeoville Village Board approved a resolution awarding a contract for the multi-use path connections project.
Maneval Construction Company, Inc. was the lowest bidder, with a total cost of $578,835.
Public Works Director Chris Drey said there are five different gaps in the trail system in the Village. The “gaps” are generally located in Lakewood Falls, Volunteer Park, the Recreation Center, Discovery Park and Budler Road.

“This project was started in 2022,” Drey said.
Drey said that the project was .6 percent over the engineer’s estimate, and they plan to adjust the fiscal year 2026 budget to accommodate this cost and the engineering cost.

“One of the things that changed in the scope of work, as we were going through the project, as we were connecting the two baseball fields out in front of the rec center. We want to make sure we have concrete ribbons so that if we did have to put fire trucks or ambulances on there that we didn’t destroy the path any further,” Drey said.
The Board unanimously approved the resolution.
“The pedestrian path project is aimed at filling in gaps in the existing path system. This will enhance the accessibility throughout the community,” Village Manager Dawn Caldwell told Patch.
