SWISSVALE, PA — Security is being increased at two Woodland Hills School District schools today after a youth was shot in a district community on Sunday.

Allegheny County 911 was notified of a shooting in the 2200 block of Woodstock Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. First responders found a juvenile with a gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
“In an abundance of caution, security at arrival and during the day will be increased at both the high school and middle school,” Woodland Hills Superintendent Daniel Castagna stated in a social media post.

“We are upset and alarmed by these community disruptions. Our administrative team works very closely with several community anti-violence groups to constantly share information inside and outside. Our security director, our local law enforcement officers, and our school response team work collaboratively to isolate incidents while supporting all families involved. These relationships and communications keep students in school safe.”
It’s unclear if the shooting victim is a student at the middle school or the high school. Police did not release his age.
