Homeless Person Found Shot, Killed At Redondo Beach Pier

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A homeless person was discovered shot and killed in the Redondo Beach Pier parking structure on Friday, according to police.

The Redondo Beach Police Department responded to the parking structure, located at 100 Torrance Boulevard, at about 6:10 a.m. A Public Works employee told police they discovered the victim unconscious in one of the stairwells in the structure.

Paramedics from the Redondo Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and declared the victim dead from a gunshot wound in the head.

“Detectives from the Redondo Beach Police Department Investigations Unit have initiated a homicide investigation and are following several leads,” RBPD said in a statement.

No information about the suspect or the motive for the shooting was available. Police said the identity of the victim, who officers believe is homeless, is being withheld pending confirmation by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner/Coroner.
