For rolling bearings, we know that there are many types. According to the main load bearing direction of the rolling shaft, they are mainly divided into radial bearings and thrust bearings. Radial bearings can withstand loads perpendicular to the shaft. Some radial bearings can only carry pure radial loads, while most radial bearings can also withstand axial loads in the same direction, and in some cases, axial loads in both directions.
Thrust bearings mainly bear loads in the axial direction. Depending on their design, thrust bearings can support pure axial loads in either one phase or both directions, and some can additionally carry radial loads. Thrust bearings cannot achieve the same high rotational speeds as radial bearings of the same size.
The contact angle determines which category the bearing falls into. Bearings with a contact angle 45 are radial bearings, others are thrust bearings.
