Burr Ridge Mayor Renews Push For ZIP Code

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge’s mayor said Monday he is working again to get Burr Ridge its own ZIP code.

It has the same one as Willowbrook – 60527.

“I think we need it more than ever, especially with so much online ordering. Every time we try at our house to order something, we’re told we live in Willowbrook with the 60527 code,” Mayor Gary Grasso told the Village Board. “I tried this 10 years ago, and the facts never really changed.”

He said codes with the 605 prefix are in the region, with about 60 of the 100 still available. He said he would like to get 60528, one digit from the current one.

“With the population growth rate for the next 150 years for this area, we won’t need too many more ZIP codes at all,” the mayor said.

Grasso said he spoke with Sen. Tammy Duckworth, an Illinois Democrat, at a mayors’ function about how Burr Ridge needs its own code. He also said he has reached out to the office of Rep. Sean Casten, a Downers Grove Democrat.

“We’re going to try to petition the government to get a ZIP code just for Burr Ridge. That has moved to the top of my list,” Grasso said. “It will make things a lot easier for our residents and businesses.”

Grasso also spoke to the Village Board about the ZIP code issue a year ago.
