PREVIEW | Lyon v Lille – Can Laurent Blanc win in his first home match as OL boss?

After a first win under new boss Laurent Blanc against Montpellier last weekend (1-2), Lyon are looking to make it two in two as they welcome an in-form Lille side to the Groupama Stadium on Sunday evening. Blanc will be in front of Lyon’s home fans for the first time since joining the club, whilst Paulo Fonseca’s Lille will be hoping to extend their impressive uplift in form of late – coming off the back of three wins in a row in Ligue 1, after a high-scoring win against Monaco last weekend (4-3).

Lyon look likely to continue with the 5-3-2 formation, as Blanc partnered up both Alex Lacazette and Moussa Dembélé in a front two – a change from the pair interchanging in Peter Bosz’s previous set-up. The change in regime has also seen Houssem Aouar reintroduced into the fold, as he reacted to the entrustment given to him by his new boss with a goal against Montpellier last weekend. Former World Cup winner Jérôme Boateng.

Les Gones will be without Sinaly Diomandé as he’ll be suspended following his red card against Montpellier. Meanwhile, Corentin Tolisso is still sidelined after picking up an injury against Rennes. For Lille, midfielder Benjamin André and defender José Fonte return to action – as Gabriel Gudmundsson remains out of action as he set for surgery on a groin issue. Johnathan Bamba and Adam Ounas didn’t train in the week due to muscular issues, but are included in Fonseca’s squad for this fixture – they could likely have to feature off the bench.

Predicted Lyon line-up:

Lopes – Da Silva, Boateng, Tagliafico, Mendes, Gusto, Lukeba – Aouar, Caqueret – Lacazette, Dembélé.

Predicted Lille line-up:

Chevalier – Diakité, Fonte (c), Djalo, Ismaily – André, André Gomes – Zhegrova, Cabella, Weah – David.
